I worked as a technical instructor with the service and parts division of a major US
automobile manufacturer for most of my working career. I had assignments throughout the North and South Western United States. In 1998 I accepted a position in the company's international
division as a technical instructor. There, I had the pleasure of assignments working with the cultures and peoples in Puerto Rico, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa,
China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and South Korea.
I have experience as a technology instructor in a Newark, NJ shared time high school, a technical instructor and training supervisor in two different private technology institutes and a substitute teacher in several high schools.
My wife Sharon and I moved from Northeast Phoenix where I was on the Board of Directors of our Home Owners' Association to New Jersey in 2011 where most of my family is. As time went on and we
prepared for both of us to retire, we moved to the comfort and hospitality of the South, obviously, Johns Island, South Carolina.
Beside my experience as an adult technical educator, I have had my own businesses in building trades, managed several auto repair facilities, managed personnel, customer service, contracts and budgets. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management that I have used through my career.
My military experience includes tank commander, Executive Officer of an infantry company, Air Operations Officer of a cavalry squadron, Operations Officer for a transportation battalion and as such was responsible for supplying fuel to hospitals, police and fire departments throughout the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut area during the "gasoline crisis" in 1973. I also organized and supervised the removal of all ammunition, weapons and firearms from National Guard armories throughout the Northeast to being them to a secure military installation during the 1973-1975 Symbionese Liberation Army threat.
July 4, 1976, provided me with the distinction and honor to land a military helicopter onto the parade field of West Point to participate in the Bicentennial Celebration held there. In 2008 I turned my focus to community service and volunteerism. I was an assistant operations officer with the Civil Air Patrol, a mission pilot for Flights for Life, command pilot for Angel Flights, both being philanthropic volunteer organizations for whom my airplane and I provided transportation for delivery of blood products around the State and for underprivileged patients who otherwise could not afford the transportation to get to their treatment facility.
I also provided service as a volunteer pilot for "Challenge Air for Kids" and "Kids In Flight". While in Arizona, I was twice elected to Director on the Board of the Deer Valley Pilots' Association and a committee member on the committee responsible for organizing the annual Aviation Day at the Capital luncheon for the Governor and State Legislature. I also was appointed to be an Airplane Owners' and Pilots' Association (AOPA) Airport Support Network representative. As you may have guessed, my hobby passion is aviation.
Please understand, I am not all work. In 1969, I spent three days at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival on Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, NY and I am a Lifetime member of the NRA.
After living in the hectic rat races of San Francisco, Phoenix, suburban New Jersey and the relentless traveling for work, Sharon and I decided to retire. We moved to Charleston where we have built a lovely home together with their dogs Dutch and Gracie and the occasional visit from our adorable grandchildren to enjoy the beauty, calmness and hospitality of South Caroline. Here, I have been electd to a Director position with our HOA and serve as its Treasurer. And, of course, there's the occasional wedding.
My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Management along with everything that I learned along my many and diverse years of experiences.
Politically here in South Carolina, I am an elected Delegate for the Charleston County delegation and an elected Delegate for the South Carolina State delegation.
